I ARRIVED IN NEVADA CITY with a film crew in 1975 to shoot a commercial. They closed down Broad Street to have 40 guys in green jump suits roll tires down the street. I had heard of Nevada City in college—it was almost a mythical place to us then. Friends talked of moving there after graduation and as I stood in the autumn sunshine at the top of Broad Street looking out over the town, trees and mountains, I knew why. I fell completely in love with this place—it was magical here, a sanctuary filled with colors. After a few years had passed I decided to move up to Nevada County and escape the traffi c and hustle of a fast-paced life in Southern California. Having lived here for 25 years, I’m familiar with the geography and the many diverse neighborhoods. I moved here because I love the mountains and wanted to live in a community where people knew each other. As an avid hiker I have a deep appreciation for the mountains, and the choices for outdoor adventures here are limitless!
